	15-22 Apr 2008	Renfrew Rotary Ramblers Mountain Challenge
		The mountain Challenge for the RRR is to raise funds for the PolioPlus campaign. Since we have done 2 of the worthwhile challenges in Britain the 3 peaks Challenge and West Highland Way, It was thought that we take it a step further and double the height of Ben Nevis, walk half the WHW and climb more than the combined height of the 3 peaks in one week. In addition we have the near equatorial heat of Gran Canaria to contend with.

	23 Jan 2008	Mondavi wine tasting evening at Braehead Cafe bar
		Fundraising, Robert Mondavi wine tasting. The venue is the Cafe Bar at the Braehead Centre 18.30 for 19.00, and Tickets are ?10.00 (Funds raised for Polioplus). I think that the chance to try 8 different Robert Mondavi wines (some of the more exotic ones as well as Woodbridge) with guidance on the finer qualities of these wonderful wines is just too good an offer to turn down. According to the organiser Lisa she reckons that they are "generous" in their tasting samples. so it looks as though it will be a very enjoyable evening.

		Witness an historic occasion on the Clyde when BAE Systems launch the HMS Diamond. Mainly built on the Clyde this is the 3rd ship of 6 being built for the Royal Navy. 	25 Nov 2007	Parcels near and far supported by Renfrew Rotary
		We packaged 20 Christmas Parcels to the needy in District 1230 with a special thanks to Bob Meikle, Eddie Williams, Campbell and family and the Renfrew Rotarians. While 40 parcels were packed for our troops in Afganistan with money raised through our nominated charities.

		Well, not Renfrew exactly it was nearer Inchinannan. Congratulations to Martin McLaughlan on his success in the now to be annual event. There were 7 Rotarian's, family and friends. Maybe someone will take a camera next year, or a blind fold for Martin.

		There were eleven Rotarians and four wives at the service on Sunday 11th November. The service was conducted by Lorna Hood from the North Church.
	November 2007	Renfrew aims for Poppy record
	Distributions: Ibrox 3rd November IKEA 4th November Renfew Town 10 November	The Rotary Club of Renfrew is hoping to achieve a record total in this year's Scottish Poppy Appeal, which takes place from 5 to 11 November. The Club has supported the Appeal for 38 years and, headed up for the third year by local stalwart Mac de Sousa, the team is working hard to distribute poppies and collecting cans to ensure a successful campaign in Renfrew this year.The 2006 Scottish Poppy Appeal raised a record £1.5 million and PoppyScotland, organiser of the annual campaign, hopes the 2007 event will see another record total to enable it to continue its work, supporting veterans and their dependants in Scotland.

		Donald McNeill is organising this year's weekend away, and it is back to Islay! The dates are September 14th-16th; the extra attraction this year is that there is a Jazz festival on Islay over the same weekend, so watch out for further details.

Please support this evening.	£1200.00 raised. Sent to our District 1230 and then quickly sent to District 1270 which covers Humberside, Lincolnshire and South Yorkshire.
	Sat 21 Jul 2007	Flood Victims - M&S Bag Pack at Braehead
		The Rotary Club of Renfrew would like to thank Braehead shoppers who donated towards our emergency collection to help the Yorkshire Flood Victims. Many Rotarians and friends helped out at the bag packing. We raised the sum of ?1,100.00 with ?100.00 donation from one of our Rotarians. Our thanks to Drew Hughes (District Governor) who also came along to help and give his support.

	Fri 15 Jun 2007	International Food Evening for CHAS
	£500.00 raised	Renfrew Rotary Club (International Committee), held the long awaited and much anticipated International Food Night in the Bishopton Sports and Social Club. This event was run in conjunction with the recently completed West Highland Way walk, with all the proceeds going to CHAS. Thanks to all the members, wives and friends a fascinating array of culinary delights was on offer, there were 3 curries from different parts of the world all imparting different flavours, Paella, Irish Stew, Chicken Casserole, Piri Piri Chicken, a whole baked salmon, vegetarian stuffed peppers, mushrooms and tomatoes, meat and potato pie, Meatloaf, Lasagne and of course a Three Peak Challenge of salads and sides to go along with them. If that was was not enough for the discerning diner, a separate table groaned under the weight of, Dumplings, Pavlovas, Belgian crepes, Chocolate Chip Muffins, and a selection of gateaux and cream cakes. When everyone had had their hunger sated, they were entertained by the sound of the bagpipes played by young Adam Louttit and a four piece band. Keeping with the theme of food, a quiz was held to test the knowledge of those present. Cookery books were available for anyone who wanted to go home and try their hand at some of the dishes on offer. A raffle with the grand prize of a mountain bike was held, and just to round it all off a dinner for 6 to be cooked at your own home was auctioned off. As far as the organisers were concerned, the night was a great success with approximately £500 raised, and from the comments received on the standard of food, entertainment and accommodation, this may be an event which makes another appearance on your calendar in the future. To everyone who attended and/or donated their expertise and time, we would like to thank you, and for those who could not make it but wished they had. Watch this space ...........

From May 5 07	Walking the West Highland Way
	Following last years Ramblers success in competing in the Sight Savers Three Peaks Challenge another challenge has been organised for 2007. A team of 10 Renfrew Rotarians will tackle the West Highland Way this May with the aim of completing the 95 miles in 5 days. The walkers will be raising money for CHAS, the Children's Hospice Association Scotland. See photographs on the gallery page.

	Our team for the 2007 quiz, which is being held on the 27th February in St Ninians School in Eastwood consists of Peter O'Keefe, Bruce Harley, Iain Balfour, Iain Provan and Jack Winch who was elected into the position of reserve by secretary Jonathan.

	Organised by Rotarian Bruce Harley all attendees had a great time benefiting for professional coaching culminating with a team game to bring proceedings to an end. An event sure to be repeated!

Tues 19 Sept 06	Renfrew Annual Snooker Tournament
	A great event organised superbly by the hardworking sports officer Gary Louttit. 12 Renfrew Rotarians locked horns at the Renfrew Inn Off Snooker Club. A friendly but competitive tournament saw the Young Guns Bruce Harley and David Atkinson come out victorious over the seasoned campaigners Stephen Callaghan and David Shan.

	Teams from the West of Scotland and city of Glasgow competed with the honours being taken by the local Renfrew Rotary club. The annual competition will now move to Renfrew golf club next year when the home team will defend their title. More...

	A Garden Barbeque Fun and Fellowship afternoon is to take place at the home of Martin & Jean McLaughlan "Whitecairn, Moredun Road, Paisley, on Sunday 23rd July 2 o'clock onwards where Renfrew Rotarian along with wives, partners and family will be made welcome and assured of lots of good food, refreshments and banter will be the order of the day.
Mon 6-11 Nov 06	Scottish Poppy Appeal in Renfrew
	Renfrew once again this year will be asked to organise the Scottish Poppy Appeal in Renfrew. Last year the total raised was £1,494,897. This year the team have set a target of raising this figure by 5%. This years appeal launches on the 18th October - with public collections between 6-11th November, accumulating with Remembrance Sunday on the 12th November. The club will be putting out cans between the 6-11th, so therefore these dates should go into the Clubs diary. 	The Challenge takes place on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 June. Visit the gallery to see how the training is shaping up!	We have entered a team in the Sight Savers International Three Peak Challenge. The Challenge: - to conquer 3 peaks, one in each country, Stob Ban - Scotland, Snowdon - Wales and Helvellyn - England. The Team: - Martin Moir (and dog), Mario Caroppo, Ian Balfour, Gary Louttit, Jim Naismith, John Stuart, Jack Winch (reserve walker). Martin McLaughlan, Iain Provan (drivers) with Eddie Williams (back up, food and emergency contingency). Money Raised: -We aim to raise over Ł5,000 with various fund raising events over the next few months leading up to the challenge. The money will go to blind people in Asia, the Caribbean, South, East, and West Africa. 		The fundraising has started with bagpacking at Marks and Spencers. Many Renfrew Rotarians were manning the tills at Braehead from 11.00am - 6.00pm. Visit the website again to find out how much was raised for the Sight Savers International Three Peak Challenge.

		A special thanks to all Rotarians, family and friends. We raised around £2,400.00 on the night and everyone had a great time. The money will be split 50/50 with 'Capability Scotland' and the Sight Savers International Three Peak Challenge.

	Sat 25-26 Feb 06	Mobile Phone Collection at Braehead Shopping Centre
		Rotarians make a charity call on mobile phones. The club has teamed up with Braehead Shopping Centre to hold special collections of old mobiles at the shopping centre. The money raised by selling the phones will go to charities supported by Rotary.
